The objective of the study:
To give a summary of patients structure who are cured by the permanent cardiostimulation in the Departement of cardiology within the period of 10 years.
The method:
We divided the patients who were indicated to the pacemaker implantation in the Departement of cardiology in years 1992-2002 - according to the age, gender and indicatory diagnosis.
Results:
The analysis of 2 772 patients was completed. In the total sample there were more men than women, in all age groups. In the youngest age group there are even more men than double amount of women. Among the women there is the higher representation of diagnosis sick sinus syndrome, namely in the younger age groups.
Conclusions:
In the sample there are more men than women, namely also in the oldest group of patients. The number of men in the age group of 65-75 years and more than 75 years increases only slightly, whereas the number of women increases regularly with the age. Depending on the age, the number of patients with the atrioventricular blockades, atrium fibrillation and multilevel damage of transfer cardiac system increases. The diagnosis sick sinus syndrome is more often included at the women population, especially in the younger age groups. Among the further diagnoses there are already hardly any significant differences between the sexes.
